Celebration of LIFE

proudly wearing my dad's Eagle's sweatshirt

Friday, Feb 25th, we had my dad's funeral.  It was beautiful...every bit of it.  The church was full of friends and family, near and far!!!  The Marine Corp was there to honor my dad as was the most touching thing I've ever witnessed...the folding of the flag, the gun salute, Taps playing.  The only bad thing that day, was due to so much rain, his grave site sunk in.  So, with that said, we could not bury him...we will do that on Monday.  BUT, they were able to do the Military salute right outside of the church...and the most amazing part was that it stopped raining while we were outside for this, AND the sun came out soon as it was over, and we got into our cars, it, that was the work of my dad for sure!!!!
Afterwards, we all headed to celebrate his life, at Talleyville...awesome time...then back to "10 East Tavern" with friends and family, celebrating the way my dad would want us to!!!  All I can say is THANK YOU to everyone who came and showed their love and support...we couldn't have done this w/o YOU!!!!

Day by Day

I couldn't wait for 2010 to be over with, as it was such a disappointing year in so many ways...I was hoping 2011 would be a fresh start and much better!  I couldn't have been more wrong!  2011 has proved a shakey start to say the least, on so many DIFFERENT levels!  Yesterday for the first time, I finally realized something that has been in front of my face for MONTHS!  I learned a very hard, yet disappointing lesson.  But, it was as if a weight was lifted off my shoulders!

So, I ran across this poem today and it literally brought me to tears...I'm no longer going to dwell on people who continually bring my spirits down by their own selfish choices.  People who think it's OK to write horrible things about you to someone else, behind your back (and people that support that)!!!  These people think they are 'victims' and have it so me, you don't...wait until you have a parent, sibling, aunt, who are fighting for their lives...ALL AT THE SAME TIME!!

“One night, I dreamed I was walking along the beach with the Lord. Many scenes from my life flashed across the sky. In each scene, I noticed footprints in the sand. Sometimes there were two sets of footprints, other times there was only one. This bothered me because I noticed that during the low periods of my life, when I was suffering from anguish, sorrow, or defeat, I could see only one set of footprints, so I said to the Lord, ‘You promised me Lord, that if I followed you, you would walk with me always. But I have noticed that during the most trying periods of my life there has been only one set of footprints in the sand. Why, when I needed you most, have you not been there for me?’ The Lord replied, ‘The years when you have seen only one set of footprints, my child, is when I carried you.’”

This poem is a needed reminder to me that I am not alone, I have family and real friends who are there for me at the drop of a hat...and that God will never leave my side as I navigate my way through this terrifying journey.
